Q. What is your setup? Can you explain in brief?
A. Ours is a family owned Partnership firm managed by a dedicated Team of professionals.
Branch Managers are the functional heads wholly responsible / accountable for day to day functioning of the Branch, including the staff working under them like Computer Operators, Warehouse Keeper, Clerks and Peon / Packers.
Regional Managers manage responsibilities (like recruitment of new people, training them, timely rotation of people, bringing cost effectiveness in the processes of few Branches and acts as support function to all such branches under him. They keep in regular touch with Principal people in the company to figure out any problems or desired improvements.
General Managers act as support functions to Regional Managers. Besides, they look after new enquiries, new products' launches, accounting responsibilities, handling of and reporting from internal Auditors etc.
Q. How much Experience do you have of this business?
A. Nearly 25 years experience in handling logistics. We strongly believe that improvement is a never-ending process. We continuously monitor our systems / processes to detect weaknesses, which helps us to evolve better methods of improving and realizing our goals. We benchmark our improvements with weakness to continue the process.
Q. Do you have transportation facilities of your own?
A. Yes, we have dedicated closed body vehicles and whenever the workload increases, we outsource from outside .
Q. How much space can you provide? Do you have your own space?
A. We have a few owned and long leased warehouses. Whenever an additional place is required, we take it on a rental basis. Depending on the requirement and preferred location in the city or outside the City (outside Octroi Limits), we locate a few spaces, take approval and start the work. This not only means flexibility in operations but also lower costs in the long term.
Q. What Inventory Control Methods do you adopt?
A. We have adopted a system of stock taking of 10 to 15 fast moving products by each employee on daily basis at the end of the day, which usually takes care of any human errors in dispatching. We do 100% Stock taking every weekend i.e. on Saturdays and generate Stock Discrepancy Statement so that by the beginning of the next week errors, if any, could be rectified in the system.
Q. Do you have your own Dedicated Software to handle Inventory Management, Order Processing, Invoicing and Reports Generation, warehouse Management etc.?
A. We have customized packages. But now we are investing in ERP based Web Enabled software which can handle multi-Company, multi-division, multi-location software with EDI capabilities through which you shall soon be able to view your Inventory in a given Location at your own convenience and place.
Q. How many SKUs have you handled most?
A. We have handled from 7 (for Pharmaceuticals) to 4000 (for Paints / Industrial Consumables) SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) per Warehouse.
Q. What are your Operating Procedures?
A. These procedures are basically given by our Principal Companies but we try to improve upon them with our long / rich experience of handling since last 20 years to bring in more accountability at each step. This does increase the paper work but brings in more control which is required / expected from a Service Provider.
Q. How different are these from others?
A. There is not much of a difference, but we ensure close monitoring and reporting. We also continually discuss the matter with seniors from Principal Companies to understand their changing requirements and adapt the processes accordingly.
Q. Do you have experience in handling Computer systems and especially newer technologies like SAP. ERP, OLOPS, VSATs, Leased Lines, VPN etc.?
A. Yes, we have an experience in these technologies, but it limited to pure handling of the software, rather than designing and internal functioning part of the same. In fact, for many of our Customers, we are handling Systems that are based on SAP, ERP, OLOPS, EDI being operated through VSAT, Leased Lines etc.
Q. Are you aware of Loan Inventory and how to keep track of it?
A. Yes, but we have a limited exposure. Loan Inventory is usually applicable in case of Electronics / computer Industry where machines are under AMC and parts are sent to Service Engineers for replacement. A track of such inventory is kept so that these are collected, sent to Repair Centers, collected back, sent to warehouse or scrapped if irreparable. Huge Investment is blocked in such Loan Inventory and sometimes needs to be tracked / monitored on daily basis, saving a lot of money. It is difficult to track such inventory manually and usually principal companies provide software that does the same.

A. We have also tied up with a few reputed forward-minded Transport Companies to provide END TO END SOLUTIONS.
Q. Are you ready for Investments in latest material handling equipments and other equipments like Bar Code Scanners / Printers, RF based Hand Held Terminals, Racking Systems etc.?
A. Yes, we are ready for such investments as per our customers' requirements and ensure that finance will never be a stumbling block for the same. Investment returns can always be discussed on mutually acceptable terms.
